Jackson River Enterprises Mission Statement reflects the desire to assist any individual with challenging disabilities in learning work related skills that will help increase their independence. We provide work adjustment training, on-going job skills training, application and interviewing training, disability benefits training along with work ethics and work environment training.

Since JRE opened in 1964, we have served hundreds of disabled individuals in our area. In the JRE building you will find the office for the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services for Alleghany County. We also help link services with Social Services, Social Security, TAP, Salvation Army, Free Clinic, Blue Ridge Independent Living Center and many other local services.

JRE is proud to be able to offer recycling services, but it is important to remember how recycling helps both you and the environment. Recycling means less waste in your dumpster and could possibly mean they need emptying less often. You may be able to cut your trash collection in half! There is only so much land, so the more we recycle the longer our landfills last.

Tours of our facilities are available for any civic, educational, or business group. Please call ahead to schedule tour dates and times.
